This quarter, we turn the Spotlight on Joseph Palmieri, Director – Investments. Joe became part of the Waldron team in 2015, and focuses on the design of customized portfolios and strategies structured for our clients’ individual needs. He works closely with the planning team to implement comprehensive solutions that support each client’s goals.
Why did you join Waldron? I joined Waldron because of their approach and their people. The industry has been primarily focused on investment management services for far too long, and is only now changing to the way Waldron had been doings things for 20+ years. Joining a firm that is ahead of the curve, staffed with amazing people from different walks of life was a no brainer.
What is the best advice you have ever received? The best advice I ever received was from my father. When I was just starting out in my career, he told me to view myself as replaceable. That has driven me to continually push and never be satisfied with the status quo.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? Although he has passed, I would love to sit down with long distance runner Steve Prefontaine. His approach was to give everything you had, so win, lose or draw your effort was never questioned. He has been quoted as saying “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” I have carried that with me personally and professionally.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you? I have a strong interest in renewable energy and sustainable living. I love to see that we are making big strides in alternative energy and the technology that makes it possible. I can’t wait to see where we are in the next 10 years and hope to contribute my small part.
What is the next item you plan to knock off your bucket list? I really enjoy participating in endurance sports. Although It may be far off in the distance, I have my eye on finishing a few ultramarathons.
